Frankenstein to look somewhat like Gunther von Hagens. So I think it fits great into modern times. But more importantly (like Frankenstein) we are too obsessed with science and lack the moral and ethical restraint that would prevent us from doing such things. I always thought it would make sense to set the story in modern times, since now we truly have the technology to do stuff like that.
